Welcome to the ALS Team, Suzan (Suzie) Calyun!

We are proud to welcome Suzie Calyun to our Heritage Team, and to celebrate a major milestone for ALS as our first Noongar Archaeologist. This is an incredible achievement for Suzie and an important step forward for our organisation and community.

Suzie is a proud Ballardong Noongar woman with connections across the Noongar nation, bringing strong cultural knowledge, technical skill, and hands-on field experience to ALS.

She graduated from the University of Western Australia with First Class Honours in Archaeology, with special interests in maritime archaeology, First Nations oral histories, engraved rock art, and historical archaeological excavation. Suzie has completed field schools in Murujuga and Greenough, strengthening her skills in surveying, stratigraphic recording, artefact analysis, and rock art documentation.
